Amarendu Prakash has formally taken over as the company’s chairman, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) declared on Wednesday. Soma Mondal, who departed from the position on April 30, 2023, is replaced by Prakash.
Amarendu Prakash, who was formerly the Director in-charge at SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), has recently joined as Chairman of SAIL, starting May 31, 2023, according to a regulatory statement issued by SAIL.
Prakash has worked for over 30 years and has a B.Tech in Metallurgy from BIT Sindri. He provides a plethora of knowledge to the team. He worked with BSL for 24 years in plant operations before spending 4 years in the chairman’s office of SAIL and 2 years as a director on the SAIL Board, where he was responsible for overseeing BSL’s operations.
Prakash embarked on his career at SAIL in 1991, starting in the rolling mills. SAIL, which operates under the Ministry of Steel, is India’s leading steel-making company, with an impressive annual capacity of approximately 21 million tonnes.
