Jio has expanded its True 5G services to six cities in Tamil Nadu: Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Hosur, and Vellore, bringing the total number of Jio True 5G cities to 101 nationwide.
The launch was announced by the Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Thiru T. Mano Thangaraj, in Coimbatore, in the presence of Dr. Neeraj Mittal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of the Information Technology and Digital Services Department of the TN government.
Jio also showcased the potential of 5G in healthcare through its Jio Community Clinic medical kit and Jio Glass AR-VR device, which will bring significant improvements to the lives of people in Tamil Nadu.
The IT Minister stated, “I am happy to launch Jio’s True 5G services in Tamil Nadu. In the long run, 5G services will bring transformational benefits for the people of TN.” He also highlighted that the Tamil Nadu government has a special focus on the start-up ecosystem and that the advent of 5G services in the state will give a significant boost to start-ups working on new technologies such as IoT, Blockchain, AI, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics in Tamil Nadu.
A Jio spokesperson stated at the event, “We are thrilled to expand Jio True 5G to six additional cities in Tamil Nadu. Soon, Jio True 5G network will be available throughout the entire state. By December 2023, every village and town in TN will have access to Jio’s True 5G services.
The launch of Jio’s True 5G services in Tamil Nadu will not only provide the best telecommunications network, but it will also create new opportunities for growth in areas such as e-governance, education, healthcare, IT, and small and medium-sized businesses. Jio True 5G will also allow citizens and the government to stay connected in real-time and will aid in the swift delivery of government programs to the last mile user.”
Jio has invested over Rs. 40,000 crores to deploy the 5G network in Tamil Nadu, which has also provided employment to nearly 1 lakh people in the state, both directly and indirectly. This investment highlights Jio’s dedication to the state.
