SJVN Inks PPAs for 300 MW Renewable Energy Projects
SJVN Ltd, a renowned energy company, has successfully inked Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for its latest 300 MW Renewable Energy Projects. These significant agreements were signed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company.
Under these PPAs, SJVN will execute a 200 MW Solar Power Project in Maharashtra, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) at Mumbai. Additionally, SJVN will undertake a 100 MW Wind Power Project in Delhi, in partnership with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
The 200 MW Solar Project in Maharashtra boasts a development cost of around ₹1,200 Crores. SGEL secured this project at a competitive tariff of ₹2.90 per unit during an e-reverse auction organized by MSEDCL. The project is expected to be commissioned by December 2024, and it is projected to generate an impressive 456 MU in its first year of operation, with a cumulative energy generation of approximately 10,481 MUs over a 25-year period.
On the other hand, the 100 MW Wind Power Project is estimated to cost around ₹750 crores. SJVN successfully won the project bid at ₹2.90 per unit in an e-reverse auction under the Build Own and Operate framework. This venture is slated for commissioning in March 2025 and is projected to generate 289.27 MUs in its first year, with an overall cumulative energy generation of approximately 7,231.75 MUs over 25 years.
Moreover, these projects are poised to have a positive impact on the environment. Once commissioned, they are expected to reduce carbon emissions by 8,67,916 Tonnes, significantly contributing to the Government of India’s ambitious mission of achieving net zero emissions by 2070. Aligning with the government’s vision of generating 500 GW Energy from non-fossil sources by 2030, SJVN has taken a bold stride towards developing renewable energy. The Company continues to expand its portfolio with these recent additions, bringing them closer to realizing their Shared Vision of attaining 5,000 MW by 2023-24, 25,000 MW by 2030, and an impressive 50,000 MW installed capacity by 2040.
