SJVN Green Energy Awards INR 132.64 Crore Contract for Solar Project in Punjab to BVG India

SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN, has signed an agreement with BVG India Ltd for a balance-of-system (BOS) package for a 100 MW solar project in Punjab, according to a statement by Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN. This marks SGEL’s first awarded BOS contract, with a total value of INR 132.64 crores.

The BOS package includes all components of the photovoltaic system, excluding the solar panels themselves. It encompasses wiring, switches, mounting system, solar inverters, battery bank, and battery charger. The contract also includes operation and maintenance of the solar PV plant for a period of three years.

SJVN secured the project through a tariff-based competitive bidding process on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis via e-reverse auction (e-RA) at a tariff of INR 2.65 per unit. The commissioning of the solar project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 2,59,798 tonnes, contributing to the government’s mission of reducing its carbon footprint.

Sharma further stated that the tentative construction cost of the project is INR 545 crores. The project is projected to generate 227 million units (MU) of energy in the first year, with a cumulative energy generation of approximately 5,302 MU over a 25-year period. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has already been signed between Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) and SJVN for 25 years.

The Contract Agreement was signed by Manoj Kumar Negi, Deputy General Manager of SGEL, and Pankaj Dhingra, Director of BVG India.
