OneWeb mission to provide affordable high-speed internet access worldwide through space is set to take a major leap forward this month, a the Indian pace Research Organization (ISRO) prepares to launch 36 low-earth orbit satellites for the UK-based company. The 36 satellites arrived in India on February 16 from the satellite manufacturing unit in Florida, and integration with the Launch Vehicle Mark III is underway.
With India’ Bharti Enterprises a a major investor and shareholder, OneWeb’ final launch, OneWebLaunch18, will complete the first-generation constellation, providing worldwide internet access. “Exciting news from India as we confirm the encapsulation of our 36 satellites ahead of OneWebLaunch18,” OneWeb announced on Twitter.
The Chief Technology Officer of OneWeb, Massimiliano Ladovaz, tweeted that the launch is scheduled for March 26th.
