This is almost five times more than its nearest competitor and will provide ultra-high-speed internet across the country.
Jio has installed 99,897 BTS (base transceiver station) across its two frequencies (700 MHz and 3,500 MHz) compared to Bharti Airtel’s 22,219 BTS, the report said. Additionally, Jio has three cell sites for every base station, while Airtel has two, meaning faster speed.
According to the Ookla report, Jio’s top median speed is 506 Mbps (megabytes per second), while Airtel’s is 268 Mbps, making Jio’s 5G network the fastest in India. 5G telecom services were launched in October 2022, and India has over half a billion internet users, making it the second-largest online market worldwide, just behind China.
