22 May 2023, Mumbai Large contracts have been received for the power transmission and distribution (PT&D) business of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction, a renowned Indian multinational corporation. Customers in India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) placed the orders, which have a value of over 5,000 crores (about $670 million).
L&T Construction has been given two orders in Saudi Arabia to build 380kV overhead power transmission lines that will link important communities along the Red Sea coast. The lines will improve current transmission systems and aid in supplying the rising demand for electricity in key commercial and tourist hotspots.
A second order has been obtained for the design, supply, and construction of a 380kV substation in KSA’s central area. The substation will be a critical component in the Kingdom’s effort to diversify its energy mix away from fossil fuels and into renewable capacity.
A reputed Gujarat DISCOM (distribution company) awarded L&T Construction additional contracts under the Revamped Reforms Based and Results-Linked Distribution Sector (RDSS) Scheme. The project’s scope includes the building and improvement of the distribution infrastructure in three districts of southern Gujarat.
In these districts, including those in AMRUT towns, the projects are intended to bring in a more effective and robust distribution network.
