MEIL Group Secures Rs. 500 Crore Defense Ministry Contract
Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) has announced that its subsidiary, IComm Tele Limited, has successfully won a significant defense contract worth INR 500 crore from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Under the terms of the agreement, IComm Tele Limited will be responsible for delivering 1,035 radio relay communication equipment containers, each weighing 5/7.5 tons, to the MoD. The commencement of container delivery is scheduled for the current financial year, 2023-24, according to a statement released by MEIL on Thursday.
The contract holds immense value, amounting to approximately INR 500 crore, as confirmed by MEIL.
The procurement of these radio relay containers is a critical step towards fulfilling a longstanding requirement of the Indian Army’s mobile communication detachments. By utilizing these containers, a secure environment will be provided for communication equipment to operate in a fail-safe and reliable manner. To meet operational needs, the containers will be mounted on authorized specialist vehicles and transported accordingly.

ICOMM, as part of its commitment to supporting indigenous manufacturing, will ensure that all equipment and sub-systems used in the containers are sourced from domestic manufacturers.
This defense contract not only reinforces the growth of domestic manufacturing for defense equipment but also encourages active participation from the private sector, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) initiative.
