Ministry of Defence Inks Deals Worth Rs. 3,700 Crore with BEL for Advanced Radars
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has recently signed two contracts with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU), worth a staggering Rs. 3,800 crores for the supply of advanced radar systems to the Indian Air Force.
The first contract is for the delivery of Medium Power Radar (Arudhara), which is an ultra-modern 4D surveillance radar equipped with Active Aperture Phased Array Radar technologies based on Solid State TR Module Transmission. This cutting-edge radar system has been indigenously developed and is being manufactured by BEL, based on the design of Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LDRE) – DRDO. The system will significantly enhance the surveillance capability of the Indian Air Force with state-of-the-art modern radar technologies, including the best-in-class Electronic Counter-Countermeasures (ECCM) capabilities.
The second contract is for the supply of Digital Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) for Fighter Aircraft of Indian Air Force. This system has been indigenously designed and developed by Combat Aircraft Systems Development & Integration Centre (CASDIC), DRDO. The advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) systems will greatly enhance the battle-suitability of IAF fighter aircraft during operational missions against adversaries.
These significant contracts signed by the Ministry of Defence with BEL will ensure that the Indian Air Force remains equipped with the latest and most advanced technologies to safeguard the country’s security interests.
