Tata Group and Lockheed Martin to Begin Fighter Wing Production in Hyderabad

Tata Group and Lockheed Martin have announced their joint venture, Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Limited (TLMAL), will commence fighter wing production in Hyderabad. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the production of 29 fighter wing shipsets with an option for additional shipsets, starting in 2025.

In October 2021, TLMAL successfully produced and qualified a prototype fighter wing shipset. The project showcased the company’s ability to manufacture detailed parts and deliver fully compliant fuel-carrying fighter wings with a 9-g, 12,000 hour, interchangeable/replaceable representative fighter wing.

The success of the prototype project further strengthens Lockheed Martin’s partnership with India. The company now supports TLMAT’s F-21 offering for the procurement of 114 new fighter aircraft exclusively for India and the Indian Air Force, providing additional indigenous production capability.
