Tata Elxsi (NSE: TATAELXSI) offers its warmest congratulations to Tata Motors (NSE: TATAMOTORS) for achieving the significant milestone of onboarding 500,000 vehicles onto the Connected Vehicle Platform (CVP). This platform serves the full range of Tata Motors’ Commercial, Passenger, and Electric Vehicles.
In early 2019, Tata Motors partnered with Tata Elxsi to implement the TETHER Connected Vehicle Platform (CVP) as a standard technology stack for their internal operations. The CVP aims to provide scalability, unique features, and high performance, with the potential to be expanded for Industry 4.0 transformation.
Tata Motors deployed the TETHER CVP under the Fleet Edge, iRA, and Zconnect brands for commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, and electric vehicles, respectively. These platforms offer features such as track and trace, geo-fencing and alerts, driver behavior monitoring, and fuel efficiency monitoring. Additionally, they allow for secure and selective access to the platform and relevant data for Tata Motors’ partner ecosystem, including dealers and suppliers, to enhance the customer experience.
The TETHER CVP was designed as a modular platform that can be easily scaled to offer a variety of solutions through APIs and third-party applications. It is also a 5G-ready platform capable of handling high scalar traffic and massive FOTA updates, and has digital twin capabilities to support the OEM’s SDV roadmap.
Rajendra Petkar, President & CTO of Tata Motors, commented on the milestone: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Tata Elxsi as part of our goal of offering innovative products based on our CESS philosophy (Connected, Electrified, Safe, and Shared). This partnership not only allowed us to develop a native platform for the Connected Vehicle Program, but it also helped us to quickly meet critical product launch timelines.
Tata Elxsi brings a wealth of automotive electronics expertise and an in-depth understanding of cloud-based applications, data governance, and user experience design to the table. The collaboration between Tata Elxsi and Tata Motors has been exceptional and will continue to ensure a positive customer experience.
Manoj Raghavan, MD & CEO of Tata Elxsi, commented on the milestone: “We are delighted to congratulate Tata Motors and proud to be a strategic partner in their pursuit of a connected, electric, safe, and shared future of mobility. The Connected Vehicle Program will bring data together on a common digital services platform, enabling the creation of new services, innovative business models, and an enhanced customer experience.
The TETHER platform was recognized as the Next-Gen Product of the Year at the NASSCOM Engineering and Innovation Excellence Awards in 2021. It has also recently received the Tech.AD Award USA for 2022 and is a finalist for the TU Auto 2021 awards in Detroit and the Tata Innovista 2022 awards.
The TETHER CVP roadmap aims to enhance the platform’s capabilities by adding support for 2 and 3-wheel vehicles, 5G MEC use cases, edge computing for autonomous driving, and an AI-driven analytics layer. These updates will help OEMs turn data and insights into improved customer experiences, cost savings, and monetization opportunities.
