Waaree Unveils 122.50 MW DC Solar Power Project, Reducing CO2 Emissions
Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd (WRTL), a prominent Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) service provider in the solar energy sector, has recently unveiled a significant milestone. WRTL, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, announced the successful commissioning of a 122.5 MWp solar power project in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. This project is part of a larger 210 MWp venture undertaken for UPC Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd’s subsidiary, Masaya Solar Energy Pvt Ltd.
Spanning an area of 651 acres on undulated land terrain, the solar power project is expected to generate 349 MU (Mega Units) of electricity annually. The remarkable scale and efficiency of this project will contribute to a reduction of approximately 373,422 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
The solar power project holds immense potential for sustainable energy production and is aligned with India’s goal of transitioning to cleaner sources of electricity. Once connected to the grid, it will supply clean energy to nearly 278,000 homes, effectively fulfilling their annual electricity requirements.
A total of 508,072 solar photovoltaic (SPV) modules were installed, ranging from 335 Wp Polycrystalline to 540 Wp Monocrystalline, with an impressive inverter capacity of 3.125 MW. To ensure long-term viability, the project has secured a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India.
Alok Nigam, the Country Head of UPC Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This solar power project will not only generate 349 MU annually but also make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. Its clean and sustainable energy will meet the electricity needs of approximately 278,000 homes.”
Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd’s Director, Viren Doshi, highlighted the significance of the project and its innovative features, stating, “This venture marks our first collaboration with ISTS connectivity. In addition to providing EPC solutions, we will also undertake operation and maintenance responsibilities for the plant over a period of 2 years.”
